Greetings in Taiwan
Mood:  incredulous

So, in America we will ask "what's up?", "how's it going?", "how are you doing?" In taiwan the thing to ask is have you eaten. Yeah apparently it wasn't that long ago that many chinese and taiwanese were worried about each other starving. Like apparently massive death due to starvation has occured at least since the birth of America. So a real consern for the lives of others still exists. In America i don't think starvation has ever been a cause for massive death even during the depression. Maybe I am wrong. we certainly never started asking "have you eaten" as opposed to "how are you doing" as a greeting for any long period of time.
